Rabbits are social animals that make perfect companions. With the right care your bunny can live up to 12-years-old! Rabbits need to see a veterinarian every year to update their care and keep them healthy. How can I care for my rabbit?

When it comes to caring for your new rabbit our team has all the answers you may need. We can make specialized recommendations for housing, diet, grooming and litterbox training. Don’t hesitate to ask your veterinarian for their advice during your next consultation. In the meantime here are some general guidelines to follow:

1. Give them a diet that is filled with hay, vegetables and fruits
2. Ensure their cage has enough room for them to move around freely
3. Keep their cages clean throughout the day
4. Your rabbit shouldn’t eat chocolate, seeds or corn as it may lead to digestive problems
5. Dedicate time to interact and play with your pet on a daily basis

How do I know if my rabbit is sick?

You’ll know something is amiss with your bunny when they:

• Start tilting their head
• Have an elevated temperature
• Develop bald patches on their fur
• Stop eating
• Have discharge in the eyes and nose
• Have runny stool or gurgling stomach

Why should I spay or neuter my pet rabbit?

Spaying or neutering your pet bunny is important even if they don’t have a companion. The procedure can prevent them from developing diseases in their reproductive organs. Rabbits that haven’t had the procedure can develop different types of cancer and behavioural problems such as biting, destructive chewing and spraying. It’s possible that your pet can become pregnant every month. In fact, they can have up to 14 babies at a time!
